Mida Assets buys into five resort hotels.

Jan. 10--Mida Assets Plc, a listed hire-purchase operator, has spent 911 million baht to acquire five luxury hotels in resort towns.

Suthasinee Setaphan had agreed to sell some of her stakes in the five hotels -- Samui Peninsula in Surat Thani, Phuket Peninsula in Phuket, Hot Spring in Chiang Mai, The Retreat Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Top Elements in Kanchanaburi, according to Mida Assets' report to the Stock Exchange of Thailand. Guidant increases investment in heart surgery device maker.

2003 SEP 15 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Guidant Corp. (GDT) has increased its equity investment by $4 million in Cardica, Inc., a privately held developer of devices for use in coronary artery bypass surgery.

The financing follows an August 2002 initial investment of $10 million and strengthens Guidant's commitment to physicians and patients through leadership in developing minimal-access technologies for cardiac surgery.
